The Electronic Systems Research Center was founded in April 2008, through the cooperation of NCTR and Sudan University. The aim was to establish a center that promotes practical research and technical consultancy in Electronic Systems as a means of advancing the people of Sudan.
Aims:
- Bring about a qualitative change in the country's technological development.
- Improve scientific research in Electronics and Telecommunications.
- Embed electronic systems technology in technology research in Sudan.
- Find effective solutions for problems in various fields such as agriculture and industry.
- Provide consultancies and solutions for both the private and public sectors.
Means:
- Providing a suitable environment for scientific research that helps to present solutions and technical consultation to governmental organizations.
- Providing electronic and telecommunication graduates with the means for scientific research thus participating in training and skill acquisition.
- Helping students with their graduation projects and facilitating the acquisition of electronic and telecommunication instruments to raise the academic level.
- Refining the understanding of engineering cadres in the field of scientific research and development.
- Establishing close relations and cooperation with similar research centers outside and inside Sudan.
- Working to provide information on technology advances.
- Training researchers and technicians in a well planned manner.
- Providing important and specialized electronic parts and illustrations

The fields of scientific research in the center include and not exclude:
- Voice encrypting systems for different networks.
- Surveillance and control systems.
- Electronic security systems.
- Tracking and monitoring systems.
- Control and remote sensing systems.
- Image and sound processing systems.
General Guidelines:
- The center aims to attract excellent researchers, programmers and technicians who are highly qualified and skillful.
- The projects in the center are supervised by a number of PhD and master holders inside and outside Sudan.
- The center trains engineers, programmers and technicians in a manner which fulfils their scientific and professional aspirations.
- The center encourages the researchers to complete higher studies in fields connected with their current projects.
- The center gives the workers and trainees certificates of experience without compromising the confidentiality of the projects on which they were working.
